We are proud of our creative curriculum which is underpinned, but not straight jacketed, by The National Curriculum. Children receive a broad and balanced curriculum with a rigorous focus on the key skills needs to excel in both English and Maths. Science and technology are also at the forefront of our priorities as well as computing, history, geography, physical education, music, art and design. Children in KS2 learn French. All children are taught religious education, which whilst broadly Christian, recognises and celebrates the beliefs and practices of other religions. The children learn about citizenship, personal and social development and health education (part of which includes sex education). The school teaches phonics using THRASS (Teaching Handwriting,Reading and Spelling Strategies). http://www.thrass.co.uk/
Our curriculum aims to engage, inspire and motivate children so that they enjoy school and achieve highly.
Our staff aim to provide an equal balance of rigour and loveliness.
Our school values aim to ensure that children enjoy their learning journey.
Please clink on the year group links for more specific curriculum information linked to the different ages and stages of children in school-and of course you are always welcome to contact school on 01472 882261 for more information.
At Healing Primary we believe that effective teaching with effective assessment of learning is the best way to ensure that children are making the important progress that we all hope for them.
Our aim is to move children from a 'basic' level of understanding and skill development - where they are highly reliant on adult support or input - towards a 'deeper', more independent and more confident understanding.
Whilst learning is an individual journey with different children learning at different rates, each age and stage of their educational development has identified 'milestones' which they are expected to progress through. We use these markers to track every child's journey and this is shared with parents and carers at our termly parents/carers meetings so that we can work in partnership to support your child's learning. Of course you are welcome to come and chat about your child's journey at any time*.
Our school uses Chris Quigley curriculum and assessment materials.
